Commodity

Quality assessment

A 450,000 sq ft beef PROCESSING PLANT plus a USDA-audited Certified Beef Program (G74, 'Creekstone Farms Premium International Black Angus Beef'), not a farm. Cattle are bought from many independent ranches/feeders that meet the program's genetic spec (100% US-born Black Angus). It sits above commodity because the program is a real USDA-verified spec and the Natural Black Angus line carries Certified Humane, but the name implies a single farm and does not deliver one. Owned by Marubeni Corporation (Japan) since 2010s, previously Sun Capital Partners — a private-equity/trading-house asset, not a family farm.

Scale
Large. ~450,000 sq ft plant in Arkansas City KS; supplies national foodservice distribution.
Feed & inputs
Grain-finished in feedlots. 'Natural' line = no antibiotics/added hormones; conventional line has no such restriction.
Animal welfare
Creekstone Farms Natural Black Angus Beef line is Certified Humane (Humane Farm Animal Care). The conventional/Prime lines carried by most steakhouses are NOT necessarily under that certification — verify which line a venue buys.
Environmental
No third-party environmental certification found.
Transparency
Medium-high on program spec (USDA G74 schedule is public), low on individual ranch origin — a Creekstone steak cannot be traced to a named ranch.

Caveats

CHEF-RELEVANT: 'Creekstone Farms' on a menu is a processor brand, not a provenance claim. 'Prime Creekstone' = USDA grade + processor, still no farm-level traceability. Two Vegas venues call it 'Creekstone Ranch' / 'ranch partner', which overstates it. Japanese corporate ownership (Marubeni) contradicts the family-farm imagery.

Beef and pork processor founded 1995 in Arkansas City, Kansas; sources Black Angus beef and Heritage Duroc pork from partner family ranchers, USDA G-schedule verified.
