Quality assessment

Fourth-generation, single-family-owned dairy and creamery on one named 710-acre ranch overlooking Tomales Bay, held since 1959 -- vertically integrated with no distributor hop between milk and finished cheese. Genuine environmental tradeoff: the family deliberately shrank the herd to reduce footprint rather than chase volume. Real third-party recognition for land stewardship (2013 California Leopold Conservation Award, a working-lands award juried by the Sand County Foundation/CA Cattlemen's Association, not house marketing), plus WBENC-certified women ownership. Not organic-certified, which is the one thing keeping this short of a state-regulated top-tier program, but the named single ranch, on-site creamery, and independent conservation recognition are the strongest shape this batch found for a dairy.
