Solid

Quality assessment

A real named single ranch in Oregon, described as the only US location where Washugyu cattle are fed to the program's specification. Washugyu is a TRADEMARK held by Japan Premium Beef for a Tajima-Wagyu x American Black Angus cross, finished on a proprietary Japanese-derived all-grain program for 27-30 months — roughly double a commodity feeding period and comparable to Japanese practice. Named ranch + long documented feeding period is genuinely above commodity; grain-only feeding, no pasture-finishing claim and no third-party certification keep it at solid.

Scale
Single Oregon ranch supplying a trademarked program.
Feed & inputs
100% vegetarian, all-natural high-energy GRAIN feed for 27-30 months. Explicitly all-grain — no grass-finishing claim.
Animal welfare
No third-party certification located.
Environmental
Nothing located.
Transparency
Medium — feeding program is published in detail by the trademark holder; ranch-level detail is thin.

Caveats

Washugyu is a trademark, not a Japanese designation. Bazaar Meat's 'Washugyu/Angus beef from Lindsay Ranch, Oregon' is an accurate and specific claim — one of the better-worded lines in our graph. Do not read 'Washugyu' as Japanese wagyu. OWNERSHIP (2026-08-19): the Washugyu trademark is held by Japan Premium Beef, a separate company (japanpremiumbeef.com); Lindsay Ranch is the Oregon feeding location for that program. A menu naming 'Lindsay Ranch' names a contract feeding yard inside someone else's trademarked program.

Oregon feedlot/ranch near Hermiston that developed the 'Washugyu' finishing program (Wagyu-style feeding of Angus cattle); no independent farm website found, only distributor (washugyu.com) pages.
