The Lobster Club
The modern Japanese restaurant that brought downtown cool back to midtown
The Lobster Club is a glamorously laidback Japanese restaurant by Major Food Group occupying the onetime home of The Brasserie, the storied 1980s eatery known for its around-the-clock service and anything-can-happen atmosphere. This spirit infuses every aspect of The Lobster Club, the first restaurant in America designed by renowned architect Peter Marino, where the menu presents deeply satisfying interpretations of Japanese classics.
THE CUISINE
The Lobster Club’s wide-ranging menu features inspired takes on everything from gyoza and yakitori to katsu-style wagyu sandos. Each main is accompanied by a delightful and extravagant array of sauces—a Lobster Club signature.
Every item is designed to be shared and is beautifully complimented by an incredible cocktail selection, sakes to suit every taste, and a wine list that frequently ranks among the best in the United States.

We hold 623 venues in New York, NY and could score 353 of them. Positions are counted against those 353.
v1.7.4 13.6/100 = sourcing 0.0/50 (named-farm 0 distinct, named-region 0 distinct, attribute 0 distinct, buzzword 0 distinct) + farm partners 0.0/20 (none scored) + registry 4.7/12 (2 listed) + press 8.8/18.
Registry check
Listed in the Kobe Beef Association's registry of authorized restaurants (registration no. 1316, checked 2026-08-26).
Registry verifiedThe Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association designates and registers every farm, trader, wholesaler, retailer and restaurant permitted to deal in Kobe beef, and publishes the list at kobe-niku.jp. We checked this venue against that list by business name and street address on 2026-08-26. The venue appears on the list. That confirms the association authorizes it to sell genuine Kobe beef; it does not verify any other item on the menu, and it does not mean Kobe beef is on offer on a given day. Registrations change, and we re-check the registry periodically.
