Rockaway Beach Rooftop Tiki Bar & Lounge
Perched atop Richmond’s oldest restaurant is one of Carytown’s newest gems — New York Deli’s Rockaway Beach Rooftop Tiki Lounge. Opened in August 2022 with the incredible support of the Richmond community, our rooftop offers a vibrant tropical escape right in the heart of the city.
Designed with a relaxed tiki-lounge atmosphere, the rooftop features a fully stocked bar, comfortable lounge and dining areas, and a private VIP section perfect for intimate gatherings of 10–15 guests. Guests can enjoy our authentic tiki cocktail menu alongside Polynesian-inspired dishes, all in addition to the classic New York Deli favorites you know and love.
The rooftop is open to the public and also available for private event rentals. Since opening, we’ve proudly hosted events for local businesses, nonprofits, birthday celebrations, proposals, bridal showers, wedding receptions, and more. We can accommodate a variety of party sizes, styles, and budgets to help bring your vision to life.

Located in the heart of Carytown at 2920 W. Cary Street, New York Deli is proud to be Richmond’s oldest operating restaurant. For nearly a century, we’ve been serving the community as a neighborhood gathering place — a spot where generations of families, friends, and regulars come together over great food and good conversation.
Known for our classic deli favorites, stacked sandwiches, comfort food, and welcoming atmosphere, New York Deli has remained a staple of Richmond dining while continuing to evolve with the city we love. What started as a traditional New York–style delicatessen has grown into a multi-level destination for dining, drinks, and unforgettable events — all while honoring the history that built us.

Our Story
Opening in 1929 and in its present location since 1934, the New York Deli is Richmond’s oldest restaurant. We specialize in gourmet sandwiches served in a neighborhood bar setting, with a diverse lineup of classic deli favorites and MORE wide-ranging food options, along with a rotating roster of bottled beer and drafts. Known as the birthplace of the famous Sailor Sandwich and home to one of the best Reubens you’ll ever try, the Deli has been a true Richmond gathering spot for generations. We’re also proud to host Carytown’s Premier Rooftop, the rockaway beach rooftop tiki lounge. open to the public (weather permitting), it’s the perfect place to enjoy cocktails and good company with a view. the rooftop is also available for private parties, from receptions and weddings to showers, birthdays, and more.
