Mera Kitchen Collective is building a worker cooperative in Baltimore.
We serve story-worthy food from chefs from around the world.
Our restaurant and bar is now open FOR LUNCH, DINNER, Brunch + happy hour
1301 N. CALVERT Street IN MT. VERNON
Dine-in, take-out, bar service and outdoor seating (weather permitting)

Tuesday - Thursday 11am-9pm
Friday + Saturday 11am-10pm
Happy Hour: Tuesday - Friday 3pm-6pm
Brunch: Saturday 11am-3pm
We welcome walk-ins only.

A great experience at Mera Kitchen involves the entire team. We add a 20% service fee to all checks,
which is shared among the entire team, to provide more sustainable, livable wages.
Tips are not expected, but if you would like to leave more, you are welcome to do so.

Our Roots
Mera Kitchen Collective is a Baltimore-based collective of individuals from around the world with a passion for sharing our cuisine to foster empowerment and celebrate culture. We believe that promoting equitable access to opportunities, building community, and providing living wages are the keys to long-term self-determination, independence, and happiness. We have a restaurant in Mt. Vernon and also offer catering services and host community events.
We participate democratically as we build our business together. This allows for each of us to only strengthen our culinary expertise and have a voice in the operations. We hope to use the cooperative model as a successful tool for wealth generation and fostering empowerment.
In response to COVID-19, we launched a community meal commitment, cooking and serving scratch-made made meals for our neighbors. As of January 2023, we’ve made over 215,000 meals and we are continuing these efforts. If you’d like to support via a tax-deductible donation to the MK Foundation, you can do so via our fiscal sponsor, the Maryland Philanthropy Network.

We opened our first restaurant in 2022
After sharing kitchens and popping up all over the city for five years, we moved to our current space in Mt Vernon in 2022.
We envision our restaurant as vehicle to share our cultures; the aroma of cardamom in a rice dish, the tangy spices of salsa verde, fruity, tropical baked goods, and the refreshing gingery mint juices of Burkina Faso. This space is an opportunity for our cooks and chefs to fully express themselves, re-invent their food, collaborate with one another, and most importantly take the Baltimore community on a culinary adventure around the world. We believe in the power of communing over food, on long tables, with shared plates, in conversation, and in pausing to connect with new and old friends. We cannot wait to welcome you!
We believe in centering our community when we envision the design of our space. We believe not only in creating a _space_ - a physical design of Mera Kitchen that is functional - but more importantly, a _place_ - a welcoming, emotional and delicious experience for our community. At Mera, we strive to create inviting environments characterized by the spirit of abundance and collectivism. The space will function as a restaurant and a community space, which we envision like a plaza, where the community interacts, and enhances our understanding of each others cultures.
