Our Story
We’re a bit like our hometown: sophisticated, well-traveled, but grounded in our roots. We believe there’s nothing more important than taking time to dine well with family and friends in a beautiful space. And we have a passion for all things Bluegrass - curing our meats in-house, supporting the region’s diverse farming and food community, and keeping a local-first mindset in everything we do.
Epping’s is located in a renovated historic building that once held Epping Bottling Works, home to the hustle and spirit of local entrepreneur John G. Epping. Today, we are proud to honor that history and be part of the energy of downtown Lexington’s Warehouse Block.
Nick Naylor
CHEF DE CUISINE
Nick
Chef Nick brings more than ten years of experience at some of Lexington’s most beloved restaurants to his leadership role at Epping’s, where he expertly guides the kitchen team’s culinary
creativity. Nick’s love for cooking for others is rooted in his family’s tradition of celebrating special moments around the table, (especially if his grandmother’s country ham was involved).
Patrick Harper
GENERAL MANAGER
Patrick
Patrick is a proud Lexington native and a 20-year veteran of the restaurant industry. He thrives on being part of the city’s ever-growing food scene and motivating his team to stay ahead of the game. His favorite part of the job? Creating a special place for guests to return to again and again.
Chris Hutchison
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Chris
Chris keeps Coles, Eppings and Poppy & Olive running smoothly, while always maintaining a gracious sense of welcome and hospitality. As a Certified Sommelier, he is also the creative mind behind the restaurants’ acclaimed wine and spirits programs. Chris grew up surrounded by phenomenal cooks in the small town of Pikeville, Kentucky. After years working in the industry, it is still his love for food and “all things distilled or fermented” that keep him inspired every day.
Cole Arimes
EXECUTIVE CHEF & OWNER
Cole
Cole returned to Lexington to open his namesake restaurant, Coles 735 Main, in 2012. Today, he is an award-winning chef and visionary that builds connections in the community and brings truly inspired dining to downtown Lexington. Cole and wife Susan dreamed of dining out in peace with their two children, Hurst and Park, a wish that brought Poppy & Olive’s “parent-friendly” concept to life.
Kayla Knisely
Dining Room Coordinator
Kayla
Kayla is a natural caretaker who finds her greatest joy in bringing comfort to others through food. Her depth of industry experience and people-first approach to everything she does makes her an inspiring leader and the resident “mom” of the Epping’s team.
Eppings is consistently a great dining experience. It’s upscale casual with dishes that are fresh and presented artistically. Wait staff is efficient, friendly and attentive and yet, very non intrusive. It’s why I keep coming back. One of the best places in Lexington!
DivineDoc on OpenTable - July 2024
Modern, clean, welcoming. Fabulous crab cakes & meatballs. All the staff are Super attentive to your needs. A fun date with my hubby!
Pat, Google Review July 2024
Every plate was so tasty and refined with flavors and presentation. Hard to choose a favorite but the carrots, pork belly and shrimp definitely stood out. Lauren, our server was excellent with making recommendations. A definite try in Lexington.
Nick, Google Review - May 2024
Epping’s never disappoints. The biggest problem is deciding what to eat because everything sounds amazing. Just means you need to go more often to try it all.

We hold 113 venues in Lexington, KY and could score 26 of them. This one is not among them, so it has no position — not a low one.
There is no score breakdown to show: nothing we read about this venue earned points in any of the four categories, so a bar chart of zeroes would look like a verdict on the kitchen rather than on what it publishes. What we did read is below.
v1.7.4 0.0/100 = sourcing 0.0/50 (named-farm 0 distinct, named-region 0 distinct, attribute 0 distinct, buzzword 0 distinct) + farm partners 0.0/20 (none scored) + registry 0.0/12 (none listed) + press 0.0/18 (capped at 35% of the 0.0-point evidence base).
Buzzwords only. This venue uses sourcing language ("farm-fresh", "locally sourced") but names no farms, regions, or verifiable attributes.
